The People.
john caspianfounder/codirector johncaspian@sidewalkchalk.us A veteran entrepreneur and native South Carolinian. He has served as a church planter, self defense instructor, consultant, and memoirist. When he’s not spending his time in Charleston County Schools, you can spot him riding a bicycle back and forth over the bridge, sitting at the airport waiting to travel, or setting up his camping gear in his house because the mountains are too far away.
jana hodgecodirector janahodge@sidewalkchalk.us The definition of philanthropist, Jana gives her time, talents, and resources to serving her community. She is a Tennessee native and a proud fan of Volunteer football, to the almost scary point of naming her female cat Al Wilson. Jana has extensive experience coordinating community events, managing teams, and getting whatever needs to be done done. She also enjoys skydiving, nice people, her book club, and worthy causes. Board of Directors AMY HUDOCK serves as the editor-in-chief of Literary Mama, an award winning journal. Her creative nonfiction has appeared in the Cup of Comfort Series, Chicken Soup, and numerous journals on motherhood. She chairs the English department at a Charleston prep school and teaches for the Lowcountry Writing Project. Amy has served on the faculty at Berkely, Marshall, and the University of South Carolina. CHARLES FOX has spent his life in the Charleston music business. Literally. He is the owner of Fox Music in Charleston, South Carolina, as well as the owner of OM BioFuels and the director of Festivelo, an annual Charleston bicycle event. He likes colors, hates wasting paper, and knows almost everybody (probably even you!). MARY ALICE SATTERFIELD has been teaching at Trident Academy in Mt. Pleasant for nineteen years. She lives and plays downtown where her husband, Ronald, serves as the Rector of St. John’s. Mary Alice also teaches with the Lowcountry Writing Project, plays piano, and sings better than anyone else. NICOLE RAGER a Nebraska native, is the young entrepreneur behind Charleston’s health food craze Nicole’s Nutty Goodness, a dehydrated, addictive fruit and nut treat. She started making it for friends in her book club. They talked her into quitting her job and selling it at coffee shops and gyms. She’s selling out of it faster than she can make it, both in Charleston and other cities around the country that are ahead of the curve. She runs marathons, too. Faster than most of us could drive them. TRISH VICINO is from New York and you can tell. We love her for that. She teaches English at James Island Charter High School, and is one of the most descriptive and gifted writers you will ever meet. She recently brought home second place in a Charleston fiction contest, but you would agree, she should have been given first. When she’s not pulling her hair out over grading essays, she enjoys bookstores, farmers’ markets, and dodging troublesome adverbs. HEATHER PEEBLES is the best listener and most encouraging person in the universe. We promise. She’s a Clemson graduate who enjoys new experiences, classic movies, and introducing people. When she’s not listening and encouraging, she’s surfing or running, meditating on ways to listen and encourage. TERI HEIN serves as the board advisor for SideWalk Chalk. She’s a native Washingtonian, veteran classroom teacher, Fulbright Scholarship winner, and published novelist. She serves as the executive director of 826Seattle. ’08 – ’09 Most Giving Workshop Leaders, Volunteers, and Mentors margaret crane, mary jo adams, ben williams, mannie schumpert, laura bryan, shawna hardin, kiki haymaker, jessica travis, ahren warf, windy rhode, hank hanna, deetz hanna, elizabeth scruggs, clell thomas, jonathan kubacz, roo way, joel stitzer, kaitlyn iserman, emily ellison, amy ropp, justin baker, katie priegal, sherrie mills, stephanie rodevick, lauren mills, capers rumph, katie hedley, sara mcgregor, nichole fair, dave lansbury, katie priegel, nick guenther |
